If you searched for “Rega Planar 1 price 2025,” that’s the turntable, not the display company. I’m not going to pretend I can help with that one. Stop here before you read 1,500 words about LED screens by mistake.
But if you’re here for Planar the professional display brand, keep going. I’ve been handling AV display orders for seven years. I’ve personally made (and documented) 14 significant mistakes, totaling roughly $70,000 in wasted budget. Some were spec errors. One was a $4,200 emergency service call because I didn’t check the support agreement. - Budget-first: the screen is one part of a larger project.
Those scenarios lead to different products, different pricing, and—most importantly—different support agreements.
Scenario 1: Mission-Critical (You Can’t Afford a Dark Tuesday)
If this is a control room, security operations center, or 24/7 facility, your first decision should be about redundancy, not color.
I once watched a team buy a beautiful LED wall for a network operations center. It looked perfect for two months. Then a module failed. The vendor’s support queue took 48 hours to respond, and nobody on the customer side had a spare module. The wall sat with a dead strip visible from the lobby. The cost of that delay was not the module; it was the confidence.
For mission-critical environments, I now look for: 24/7-rated hardware, hot-swappable modules, redundant power and signal, an on-site response time written into the contract, and a named support engineer.
Planar displays are common in this world because the brand has been doing it for decades. But the brand name is not a warranty. Ask for the support plan in writing before you ask for a discount.
Scenario 2: Image Quality (Planar Luxe MicroLED Size and Price)

If your search is “LED screen for kids,” I’m going to assume you’re outfitting a classroom, a children’s museum, or a lobby where kids will stand close to the display. The first rule: no screen should run at full brightness when it is at child height.
High-brightness LED walls are designed to compete with sunlight. In a classroom with moderate lighting, 1,500 nits is already a lot. Running a 4,000-nit wall all day might look vivid in the showroom, but it is not necessary and it can be uncomfortable. Use a lower brightness preset and make sure the teacher knows how to change it.
The second rule: ask for the substantiation behind any “safe” claim. Per FTC advertising guidelines (ftc.gov), claims have to be truthful, not misleading, and substantiated with evidence. If a reseller says “this screen is safe for children’s eyes,” ask to see the test report. “Blue light free” is also a claim rather than a feature. Every LED screen emits blue light because blue is one of the three LED colors. What matters is whether the screen is controlled and properly calibrated.
Third, the physical environment matters more than the panel. Secure the mount, lock the trolley, cover the cables, and set a power schedule. In my experience, the most dangerous thing about an LED screen for kids is the floor mount that was never anchored.
Scenario 4: Budget-First (Sometimes an LCD Screen Is the Right Choice)
Not every project needs an LED video wall. I’ve had procurement managers tell me they want LED because it feels modern. But if the display is 85 inches or smaller, a commercial LCD display or LCD video wall is often a smarter use of money. The color is more consistent, the cost is lower, and the support logistics are simpler.
I went back and forth between an LED wall and an LCD video wall on one of these projects for two weeks. The LED offered the wow factor. The LCD made the support logistics simpler. We chose the LCD because no one on site was ready to replace LED modules. Sometimes the less impressive solution is the right one. That is okay.

The part that took me a while to understand: LED color is not one number. It is several.
- Color gamut: which color space it covers, such as Rec.709 or DCI-P3.
- White point: the color temperature, usually 3200K, 5600K, or 6500K.
- Brightness: measured in nits. Too low and it disappears. Too high and it hurts.
- Calibration: panel-to-panel consistency after hours of use.
- Content: the color profile of the source feed.
In my first year, I made the classic rookie mistake: I asked for a bright, colorful screen and chose a high-brightness spec because it looked more impressive on paper. On site, the whites looked blue and the reds had shifted. The vendor said the screen was within tolerance. It was—but “within tolerance” didn’t mean “to our eyes.” I paid about $1,400 for a calibration session, which fixed 90% of the problem, and delayed the launch by four days.
Now I ask every vendor: “Show me the same source image on two different brightness presets.” If the vendor hesitates, that’s a problem.
LED Screen Support: What I Check Before Signing
LED screen support is the most expensive thing you’ll never see on a demo wall. It includes spare parts, replacement modules, firmware updates, remote monitoring, and the person who answers when a wall goes half-on.
Here’s a real example from September 2023. We commissioned a 3x3 LED wall for a training center. Everything passed. A month later, one row of pixels flickered. The integrator said, “Send us a photo.” We did. Then they asked the client to climb a ladder and reseat a ribbon cable. The client did not want to touch a $50,000 wall.
